Just got back from 1st Friday which is the the day where a bunch of places turn into art galleries for the night and have showings all across downtown Albany and I believe parts of Troy. Tonight we went to the art house to see an installation by a guy I know who likes to work with brightly colored spandex.T he show was awesome because it turns out alot of the grad students were showing their art as well. The actual set up of the building was amazing as well. I'm not sure what it was used for but there were alot of fire places and small rooms that had art tucked away in them. It was three levels and on the upper level there was videos or performance art going. Overall it was just a nice space with a nice vibe and of course nice art.

And here are some random photos.

The Fall of Troy, Tera Melos, Portugal the Man,and Damiera.

Thee most amazing concert I have ever seen! Tera Melos started things off and were awesome. They are a kind of progressive, psychedelic, really good band from the west coast. This is the first time they've come to the east and hopefully they will come again cause they are just really awesome musicians. Each band had, i guess, a 30 min set which for Tera Melos meant 3 songs. 3 very good songs. I bought there shirt after they played too. It's a cool shirt. Next was Damiera, who were good but nothing special. The lead singer could sing but his mike broke halfway through the second song, and the harmonies were good, but after that I pretty much lost all interest. They're good but so a alot of other bands that sound just like them. Next was Portugal the Man who I swear are reincarnated from the 70's. They look like they're from the 70's dress like they're from the 70's smell like they're from the 70's and most of all they play like they're from the 70's. They were very good. (If you like the 70's) It was a very smooth kinda of hippy music that made you very calm. It was cool. During they're performance they had The Fall of Troy and Tera Melos come on stage with them and everyone grabbed an instrument and they just started jamming. It was such an amazing musical experience. Videos here ---> After the jam and Portugal was done The Fall of Troy went on. They were the best band I have ever seen live. Ever. The music was crazy. Everything was just so much more than what was just on the album. And they played my favorite song, Act One, Scene One, the best with crazy improv solo added and the whole song seemed hyped up and a little faster which is crazy because it was a very fast song, guitar wise, already. Thomas just rocked the guitar so good. I wish I had video of it but i didn't want to stop watching them to take out my phone. The pit was also pretty crazy. Lots of pushing and such. Behind the pit there was also a little area for trashing with only a few people in it and someone who was crowd surfing got throw in to that area and hit the floor pretty hard. There was also a few black eyes and a guy missing a tooth with some ice and a cup of water. It was such an amazing concert! ^^ It makes me all warm a fuzzy inside.

Dir En Grey, Bleed the Dream, Fair To Midland

So we traveled to the NYC to see Dir En Grey.(because the last show we were to see them at got flooded out) We got there checked into our hotel which was actually really nice. It was kinda weird cause there was pilgrim print everywhere (the wallpaper, the curtains, the headboard, the pillows) but it was still a cool hotel with great location. We were able to walk to Times Square, Penn if we really wanted to, Audrey's favorite bakery Minamoto, and of course Kinokunia where I got a really cool pocketbook, and we were right in the middle of all the plays cause it was in between 8th a Broadway. It was the Mayfair if you were interested. So after adventuring for a while we changed went to dinner across the street for the concert and then went in. Coat check was ridiculously long. -__- We missed the first band, Bleed the Dream, although we did meet the singer handing out CDs after the show, and we came in the last two songs of the second band, Fair to Midland. The whole two song we were trying to figure out why the singer was missing the big patch of hair on the side of his head and we ended up deciding on that some played a joke on him. And also why he spazed out the way her did. I was a mixed between a seizure and thrashing. It was interesting. So after that came Dir En Grey. They were good. I didn't expect them to be from other reviews but they were. We started out in the left back and ended up in front row center, unwillingly. It was awesome because we were so close but everyone around was so utterly sweaty and there was no personal space so everyone was just sharing sweat. Lovely. A few girls passed out form the heat and lack of oxygen and had to be carried out by security. Another girl got carried out for setting something on fire. The security guards during the concert had to throw water on people because they were passing out to much and I kept getting hit in the throat. That wasn't fun. But the music was awesome. An Kyo makes very interesting faces. O_O Yeah. Like I'm cockeyed and have a tick. They played mostly new stuff and they had some videos playing in the background. They also played a three song encore. They were in my opinion really good live. Definately worth going to see. And when the encore was done everybody booked to the coat check which was almost as violent as the concert itself. Pictures weren't allowed in this concert so I have no videos or pics. I do have video on my cell phone of the coat check line but I have no idea how to put them on my computer so....

Those were my concert experiences.

I will use the livejournal!

Yes, yes my friend. You have read correctly. We have returned. With even more fiesty adventures in our pants. So what have we been up to lately? I'll tell you what we've been up to lately.... I don't remember. I kinda forgot I even had a LiveJournal. But that's not the point. The point is that we've been up to much. Like tonight....
Or maybe today......
So it was that ominous time between night and day.....
I believe it's called afternoon.
First on our agenda we went down to lunch with Ed!!! <3 He brought his skateboard. It was cool. So we had lunch and chatted a bit. (and you know how I like to chat) We saw Ed's tattoo for the first time. It's pretty sweet. So after lunch we headed to the bus stop. Then we got on the bus. And we sat in the bus. The bus drove. Then the bus hit some traffic when we got closer to Lark. But the bus did get to Lark. The we got of the bus. And we walked onto Lark. Then we passed our future appartment. Trinity Church.^^ They are leasing it and come on who doesn't want to live in a church. Image hosting by Photobucket Image hosting by Photobucket Image hosting by Photobucket Lark has these cool shops on it, like this one. It's a hair salon/art gallery. O_o Image hosting by Photobucket So we stopped at a few. First we went to this book store that makes me drool. I think it make Melissa head explode.(cool)^^ Next we went to the Kinky Kove! Ok, so that's not really the name but it would really cool if it was. They sold bongs, pipes, chess sets, you know stuff like that in the front and in the back was a sex shop. I unfortunately didn't not have the pleasure of purchasing anything from that store but Melissa did. She bought a collar for her little slut boy. Image hosting by Photobucket Oo la la. Next we went my favorite place on Lark. That's right bitches, Viva Lark Vegas!!! I went in for a vert industiral but they didn't have a bar long enought so I just go regualar. I so happy.Image hosting by Photobucket After that we went to Bombers for some taco. Which explains why my face looks like that. That is also where I made the mistake of giving Melissa my camera. Here are the results of that mistake.Image hosting by Photobucket Melissa taking a picture of herself in Bombers even though I'm sitting right across form her. Image hosting by Photobucket Us walking down that street. Image hosting by Photobucket And us walking down that street. I was in the middle of saying something. I think it was P word. Image hosting by Photobucket And us on the street...again. Image hosting by Photobucket And oh look! It's us on the street. Image hosting by Photobucket And here we are, still on the street, making OMG faces. Cause that what your supposed to do apprently when you have camera. Image hosting by Photobucket And here's Melissa taking a picture of herself...on the street. I actually like how this can cause the background is all blury. Image hosting by Photobucket And this is a plastic bag, my wallet, and a hand....Yeah.
So while walking down Lark street we got hit on a few times. So when this parked car starts beeping at us we were ok keep walking and it turns out to be Aaron, this cool guy from Melissa Japanese class I believe. He was heading over to the Red Square and we had some time to kill so we hopped in his car and went along. It turns out this show we were to see at the Red Square was some kind of performance poetry. I was a little worrried cause I don't speak flowy shit but it turns out to be.... I have no fucking clue. There were like five people on the stage making these crazy noises....that's it they were making noises and yeah there really is nothing to add. Another group of people came on and they were kinda funny. They did a whole piece on differnt ways to say shit. O_O It was pretty good, but the best when the did a one about 36 (or some other number) ways to say snow in the Inuit language (or some other langage) and then what those words would be if translated into english. They came up with some pretty fuuny stuff like "Do not buy me a muffin." It still overall wasn't my thing or Melissa's.... And then night fell. Image hosting by Photobucket That little white thing. Yeah, that's the moon. So after that...interesting performance we hopped on a random bus and hoped that it would take us where we wanted to go. And it did. We are such lucky girls. I swear sometimes I think Melissa keeps a Leprucahn hidden on her. They're like good luck times infinty. Fuck your rabbit's foot. So anyway we headed down to Valentines. It is Nick the Vikings birthday and we had to brings a cone of his favorite ice cream. Crumbs along the Mohawk. I have no fucking clue what kind of ice cream that is but he ate it all. Image hosting by Photobucket See only a little left. We got scared for a second though cause when we turned down the street there was a fire truck and an ambulance and cops and it looked like they were in front of Stewart's. That's were we get the ice cream. But it wasn't in front of Stewarts. Well is was. But it was off to the side a little and the point was the cops didn;t close down Stewarts so it was all good. And Nick the Viking ate the ice cream and we chatted and then we walked back to the bus stop and caught the 11(thanks to Melissa's lucky lepruchan) and came back to our dorms. And I think it was only like 9:30 when we got back which was a pretty long day consdiering it started at like 3:30. Ahhh, them memories. Until next time loyal viewers. Sayonara!!
